How to Migrate Your SecondFi/Yoroi Wallet Step by Step

SecondFi’s migration tool is now live, and SecondFi — the wallet formerly known as Yoroi — is winding down. If you still have a balance, you need to move your ADA, tokens, and NFTs to a new wallet you control before the shutdown, or you could permanently lose access.

This guide follows the official documentation step by step: what the migration covers, how to prepare, the in-app process, what to do afterwards, and how to spot the phishing and fake profiles already circulating around it.

Do I need to migrate?

Yes, if your SecondFi wallet still has a balance — whether or not you were affected by the June 2026 incident (official FAQ). The wallet is shutting down, and after the shutdown you could permanently lose access.

  • If your wallet was emptied in the incident: there is nothing to migrate. Your path is the recovery tool, a separate process (below).
  • If your wallet is empty for another reason: no action is needed.

What the migration covers — and what it doesn’t

According to the official announcement, the tool *»moves your entire Cardano balance (including all ADA, native tokens, and NFTs)»*. The official FAQ details that it withdraws staking rewards, deregisters your stake key, and builds transactions that *»capture every token and NFT without leaving anything behind»*. The tool was audited by Bitdefender before launch.

An important nuance: the documentation speaks of *»supported, available»* assets, and the app currently does not display NFTs or all custom tokens (official KB). Community members have reported successful migrations where ADA and NFTs moved correctly, but if you hold uncommon tokens, verify after migrating — with an explorer (Cardanoscan or cexplorer) — that everything arrived before closing the process.

Before you start: prepare

  1. Create your destination wallet. A new Cardano wallet with a provider of your choice (Eternl, Lace, or others — see our wallet guide), one you control. Have its receiving address ready.
  2. Do not use an exchange address. Not supported by this flow; sending to one can result in permanent loss, especially with multiple assets and NFTs.
  3. Consider a hardware wallet. It keeps your private keys offline and is the safest option.
  4. Migrate one wallet at a time. If you have several, repeat the process for each; the app will flag the ones with a balance («Wallets need migrating»).

The step-by-step (inside the app)

  1. Open the SecondFi app (updated from the App Store or Google Play — there is no separate migration app or website) and tap the migration card on your home screen.
  2. Enter the destination address. You can paste it or scan a QR code. Check it character by character, tick the confirmation checkbox, and continue.
  3. Review each transaction. If your ADA is staked, the first transaction unstakes it (withdrawing rewards and deregistering your stake key); the send transaction follows. You will see amounts, from/to addresses, and the network fee for each.
  4. Sign to submit. Signing is confirmed with your biometrics or password.

The app numbers each transaction («Transaction 1 of N»). Very large wallets with many assets may need more than one send transaction due to Cardano’s transaction size limit.

What to expect during migration

  • Your delegation is deactivated. Your ADA is unstaked and your DRep delegation is no longer active. Afterwards, re-stake and delegate to a new DRep from your destination wallet if you want to keep participating in governance.
  • Nothing can be reversed. Blockchain transactions are irreversible once signed and submitted. If you enter the wrong address, assets can be lost forever.
  • You can close the app halfway. Nothing is submitted until you sign; if you close before signing, restart the process from the beginning.
  • Confirmation can take a few minutes depending on congestion. Your wallet may look empty while transactions confirm: check «Recent activity» and a block explorer. Do not repeat the migration just because it is slow.
  • If a transaction fails: check its status in «Recent activity» and on an explorer. Do not submit another while the original is pending; if it failed, follow the in-app retry instructions or contact official support.

After migrating

  • Confirm the «Cardano Asset Migration Completed» status in the app and verify your destination wallet received everything.
  • Re-stake and delegate to a DRep from your new wallet. SecondFi recommends a DRep with a proven voting record.
  • DO NOT delete your original wallet or the app — and keep your staking key. This matters more than it seems: even after migrating your full balance, the original wallet and its seed may still be needed for the asset recovery process, and likely also for claiming your Midnight (Glacier Drop) tokens, whose claim is already operational again.
  • Do not reuse the old wallet for operations — treat it as inactive — and do not lose your seed phrase: it remains your key backup.

The Midnight claim (Glacier Drop) and your original wallet

Midnight temporarily suspended Glacier Drop redemptions after the incident (announcement), but redemptions have already resumed (X @midnightfdn). Key points:

  • Claims are processed only on the official site midnight.gd, connecting your wallet.
  • Your claim is tied to the original Cardano address you used to initiate it, not to SecondFi as an app. Keeping the original wallet (or at least its seed) may be what lets you claim your $NIGHT/MNT tokens.
  • Caution: fake sites and accounts posing as Midnight or «support» proliferate around claims. Midnight will never contact you privately asking for sensitive information, and no legitimate party will ask for your seed to «verify» a claim.

Special cases

Using a hardware wallet with SecondFi? Hardware wallets are not migrated in-app: connect your device to another compatible Cardano wallet provider and follow its official instructions. Your assets stay where they are; only the interface changes.

Only staked ADA left, with no liquid ADA for fees? A practice reported by users: send a small amount of ADA to cover fees from an old address that never signed transactions in the incident window (from June 8, 2026 onwards), identified with an explorer like Cardanoscan. Do not use a compromised address to inject funds, or the ADA could be swept immediately. This is a community-reported practice, not official instruction — when in doubt, contact the app’s official support.

Want to test before migrating your main wallet? Migrate a small wallet first as a trial to get familiar with the process, as long as the destination address is correct.

Phishing and fake profiles: how to protect yourself

Scams are already circulating around the migration. Golden rules:

  • SecondFi will never ask for your seed phrase, private key, password, or verification code. No legitimate party does — and it will never give you a destination address or ask you to send funds to an address they provide, even «on behalf of the team». The destination address is entered by you.
  • There is no separate migration app or website. Only the existing app, updated via the App Store or Google Play.
  • Watch out for fake profiles: comments under the official announcements already show accounts posing as «support» offering help. They are scams. SecondFi never initiates contact via DM.
  • Trust only official channels: X @secondfiapp and @secondfi_jp, support at support.secondfi.io, and downloads from secondfi.io/download only. The only official extension is on the Chrome Web Store with a blue verified check.
  • Distrust links received by message, even if the sender claims to be team, support, or a «partner». Always verify the URL yourself.
  • If someone offers to «help you migrate» and asks to see your screen or access your wallet: it is an attempted theft. Migration is designed to be completed by you in a few guided steps.

Migration ≠ recovery

They are two different processes:

  • Migration (live since August 19): moves what you currently hold in SecondFi to your new wallet. Migrating does not affect any recovery claim.
  • Recovery: for those stolen from in the incident (June 2026). A separate portal, still under audit, expected in early September. If you already submitted your request, no further action is needed.
